2015 marks the notable 750th anniversary of The Battle of Evesham; fought on the 4th August 1265. To commemorate the medieval milestone, The Battle of Evesham Festival 2015 will take place, including a series of talks and tours, between Saturday 1st and Saturday 15th August, at the Crown Meadow, Evesham.
Whitness the Battle Re-enactment
As part of the medieval fesitval celebrations, the largest mid-13th century battle re-enactment will showcase local heritage to the world, from Saturday 8th to Sunday 9th August 2015. Visit The Battle of Evesham and travel back in time to the historic feud, where visitors will be entertained with the portrayal of medieval living.
The event includes live Battle Re-enactments, Battle Beer, a Medieval Banquet Theatre, Medicine & History, Archery & Falconry displays, Craft Activities, Musical Entertainment and much more.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the Individual Battle Flags, created by Areca Design for the commemorative event! The flags, which were designed by selected winning school students in the Flag Design Competition, are to be flown through Evesham town centre during the course of the event.
To invite and inform visitors to the medieval occasion, Areca Design were requested to come up with a new Logo design and Website Design, in keeping with the historic theme. Shield emblems and flag integrations formed the overall look and feel, to compliment the significant time in history. About The Battle of Evesham
The Battle signifies a national and local momentous part of English history, which took place on the morning of the 4th August 1265. Simon De Montfort and his army were soundly beaten, by the troops led by the future King Edward |. Despite defeat, Simon De Montfort is hailed as a hero to this day – as the man who setup what some historians class as the first true parliament.
